transparency, and professional assessment at every step.

Security of Your Jewellery

We take security seriously, ensuring that:

✔ Your jewellery never leaves our premises.
✔ Only JVLab staff handle your valuables.
✔ When not being assessed, your jewellery is securely stored in our
safe.

How Long Does a Valuation Take?

Standard Service

• Valuations typically take four working days (excluding dropoff day).
• For 10+ items, we will provide a custom timeframe upon drop-off.

Priority Service

• Same-day collection is available if items are dropped off by 9:00 AM.
• If dropped off later, collection will be ready the following day at the same time.
• Priority valuations must be booked at least two working days in advance.

Valuation Process (Step-by-Step)

1. Take-In & Initial Assessment

📍 Upon arrival at our 4th-floor lab at 55 Gawler Place
📝 Discuss the purpose of your valuation and conduct an initial assessment.
📋 Note any immediate concerns, such as wear & tear or damaged gemstones.
🧾 Issue a detailed receipt, including:
• Your contact information.
• A brief item description.
• The valuation type and expected completion date.

2. Cleaning & Identification

💧 Ultrasonic cleaning removes dirt that may obscure gemstone grading.
🔍 Gemstone testing confirms if diamonds and gemstones are natural or synthetic.
🧪 Metal purity testing (XRF or acid test) determines the composition of gold and other metals.

3. Diamond & Gemstone Analysis

💎 Diamond Grading – Evaluated using the 4Cs (Colour, Clarity, Cut, Carat).
🔬 Gemstone Grading – Assessed based on colour, inclusions, and cut quality.
⚖️ Carat Weight Calculation – Measured with precision tools or volumetric formulas.

4. Mount & Value Assessment

🛠 Mount Quality & Craftsmanship – Evaluated based on material,manufacturing method (handmade, cast, machine-stamped), and setting quality.
📈 Final Valuation Includes:
• Diamond & gemstone value
• Metal purity & weight
• Manufacturing quality
• Finishing, polishing & rhodium plating

Final Steps

📄 Detailed Documentation – A full item description is recorded in the valuation report.
📷 Photograph – Jewellery is photographed for documentation.
🔒 Secure Storage – All items remain in our safe until collection.
